TWO MANN, TWO SENSE

Hi! I'm Erika. Welcome to Two Mann, Two Sense! (2M2S for short). 2M2S is a musing, where I serve up an assortment of bite-sized tips, quotes, musings, stories, recommendations, and other spicy ruminations about photography, entrepreneurship, creativity, and life. You'll see me in your inbox every couple of weeks.

Lots of people asking our thoughts on Photoshop's new AI tools, that were released yesterday in Beta. It is amazing and f#$%ing terrifying, all at the same time. The goal of ALL our (Two Mann's) photos, when we boil it down, is to bring our clients back to a memory, or maybe even just a feeling. Even with portraits. When our clients look at the photos, we want them to remember what they were feeling at that moment. In that 1/250th or 1/800th of a second. AI cannot achieve this. AI can make something look cool, but it can't make them remember how they were feeling. It can't create a session that reminds them how much they love each other. It can't enhance the nervous excitement a person feels before they walk down the aisle. We human photographers can achieve this through the simple act of noticing, the experience that we give our clients, and the realness of the photos we deliver.

So that’s my take. That doesn’t mean we won’t utilize AI as a tool. I can assure you we will. But these advancements, for me, only reinforce what’s truly important. And, what’s truly important has little to do with the photos we produce, and everything to do with the details we notice, the experience we provide, and the experience we live. The photos are a bi-product of these values, not the other way around.

Love Erika
